Meet Rachel

Hello, friend!  Welcome to the Vine & Venture.

I am truly so glad you are visiting this space where I create! Whoever you are, wherever you’re at, I want you to feel welcomed among my words. These words are the stories of slow growth through imperfection and big leaps of faith.

I am on the venture of joyful obedience, selfless service & intentional living rooted in Christ.

The avenues I have been given to practice these values are my career (as a Physician Assitant to the refugee community),  faith (as a Christ follower), and everyday life in Denver.

This blog is entitled “The Vine & Venture” for specific reasons. The Vine comes from John chapter 15 of the Bible in which Jesus says “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

I write here about living a life of joy, selflessness & intentionality, but the overarching empowerment to live this life is the power of Christ, the Vine. I believe you and I will be most impactful in our work, our faith, our relationships, and our life in our communities when we are abiding in Christ, the Vine of life.

I will write specifically about abiding in Christ for the fullest life and categorize these posts under “The Vine” in my blog.

I hope that you can find encouragement and revival in this category of the blog.

“The Venture” category of the blog is about the venture of my (and your) work in the world- the places Christ calls us to pour out our love and service as an act of joyful obedience.

Specifically, I am interested in encouraging and challenging you to engage with the vulnerable, the overlooked, and the oppressed in your community. I have found that some of the most oppressed and overlooked persons of our generation are immigrants and refugees. Because I have experience with the refugee community and a deep love for them, you will find that I have a particular focus toward loving on the stranger in your city and the refugee communities who are resettled around the world.

I hope through my words, you will be encouraged to live your own Vine & Venture life- full of joy, selflessness, and intentionality, growing slowly through imperfection and taking the big leaps of faith as you are given opportunities.

My husband and I (above). Heath encourages creativity in me and he is a large reason I had the courage to start this blog! So shout out to him for helping me do creative things. 🙂
